From disgrace to His grace!

Talk about some Amazing Grace!!!!

I don’t’ know how much you know about the writer of this well-known song, but before he got saved he was a slave trader, but then he heard about that amazing grace (For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8)  He then asked the Lord for this amazing grace, and later wrote this song:

Most people have experienced disgrace, but many people have not yet experienced His grace! If you don’t know the Lord as your Saviour and have not experienced His amazing grace, I encourage you not to waste another second, and join all those that have called on the name of the Lord and become one of His children today! “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Romans 10:9,10,13)

This has nothing to do with religion, because you cannot do anything to work your way to heaven, because salvation is a FREE gift, it is given to you from God above. Read the above verse again, salvation is a gift of God. Religion is like trying to build a “tower of Babel” to reach to heaven, it cannot be done! It will take God to reach down to you/us and offer us a way to get into heaven.

Easter will soon be here, and we as Christians celebrate the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. Without the resurrection there would be no Christianity! Every other god is dead and in a grave somewhere, but not our God – He is alive – and He is going to come back to this earth again.

Have you ever thought about all the names that are given to our God in the Bible? Have you ever thought about the thousands of songs that have been written about our God? What about the Bible? It has been translated into hundreds of languages and is consistently the Bestseller year after year, for 400 years now! What about the countless lives that God has changed because of this amazing grace!

I know what my life was like before the Lord saved me in 1983, and the changes He made in me after I got saved. I did not turn over a new leaf, nor attend a support group or take anger management classes or go to a 12-step program – I went to the source of the one that could solve my biggest problem – sin! I acknowledged my sins to Him, asked Him to forgive me and to come into my heart and life and save me – and he did! I have never been the same since then. I quote one of my good friends Jeannette when she met me the first time after I got saved: “Heidi, what happened to you? Let me touch you and maybe some of this will rub off on me.” I smiled and told her “No Jeanette, it doesn’t work that way, but you can have what I have too for yourself” and handed her a gospel tract that explains clearly the way of salvation.

If you have never heard the gospel of Jesus Christ and would like to know more, feel free to email me and I will gladly send you more information.  I hope I have been an encouragement to you, for this is my desire!

This is my website/blog. I post information about real work-at-home opportunities as well as posts about being a breadwinner for the Lord!

“Cast thy bread upon the waters: for thou shalt find it after many days.” Ecc. 11:1

Are you quoting the Bible?

“But he (Jesus) answered and said, It is written, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth or of the mouth of God” (Matth 4:4)

Have you ever thought about that statement for a while? It says that we live by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God! So you may want to ask yourself if you too are quoting the Bible, and sometimes not even being aware of it.

Here are only a few quotes that we probably all have said, that are from the Word of God:

” You can’t get blood from a turnip.”

This comes from the Bible, it’s the event of Cain and Abel. Abel was obedient to God and offered the sacrifice that God required; a slain lamb. However, Cain offered God the vegetables that he grew from  the ground. It’s kind of like that today still. God offered His only begotten son who shed His blood for us as a sacrifice so we could be forgiven of our sins. But like Cain, we offer God our own works of religion, and God won’t accept our works. He said this: “For by grace are ye saved by faith and that not or yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast. Eph. 2:8-9. The only way to come to God is to come to Jesus Christ by faith, He won’t accept any other way.

Does that sound narrow to you? Here is what the Bible says about that: “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat. Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” Matthew 7:13*14.

It is my hope and desire that if you don’t know the Lord as your personal Saviour that you will find this way and eternal life. Again, Jesus said this: “I am the way, the truth and the life, no man cometh unto the father but by me.” John 14:6

It is so simple that even a child can believe and accept Jesus, yet for many adults it seems to be so complicated and it does not have to be. If you are reading this and are truly searching for the truth with an open heart, you will find it in Him, I have no doubt.

Here is another saying people use a lot! “Why don’t you go to hell,” or “I wish he/she would just go to hell” or just plain “go to hell!”

OK, so do you believe then that there is a hell? Jesus preached on hell as much or more that He did on heaven, so there must be something to it. When I was a young girl, we used to fold paper that would fit on our fingers and on one side draw a picture of a pretty blue sky and on the other flames of hell. Then we would ask one of our friends to point to one side and choose “heaven or hell” and we would open our fingers to either heaven or hell. I had no clue where that came from, but I do remember we used to play with those paper-folding “toys” and “did not like to go to hell!”

Do bad people go to hell and good people to heaven? Thank God it’s not so, or I would never have gotten an entrance into heaven. At age 36 I could never have done enough “good works” to make up for the last well say 30 years of bad! I didn’t even know how many days I had left to live, so it would never work. No, the Lord is a very merciful God and allows a bad person who repents of his sins, admits he is a sinner and asks for forgiveness and a new start into heaven. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16.  He also said in II Peter 3:9 “ The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”

Perish where? If God gave His only begotten Son, and he did, to die for your sins and for mine and if we reject Him and His gift of salvation – what choice do we leave God? Can religion top what Jesus Christ did on the cross for us? I believe you know the answer. So where do you want to spend eternity? The choice is yours, God gave you a free will to choose Him or reject Him.

On the other hand a “good person” has to come to Jesus just the same way, repent of his own righteousness, ask the Lord for forgiveness of his sins, and ask the Lord to save him.

Examples from the Bible of a good man, a religious man is found in John chapter 3. Nicodemus was a good man and a religious man who came and talked to Jesus and to him Jesus said: “Verily, verily I say unto thee, except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” In verse 7 Jesus said: “Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.” John chapter 3

You say you don’t believe in hell, or would God send people to hell? Well, just because you don’t believe in hell does not mean it does not exist, so that argument is done. Would God send people to hell? No, He does not, you are sending yourself there, if you reject the only way of salvation – back to the narrow way! You may not like it and I understand that, but that is the way it is. “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” Acts 4:12  (referring to Jesus Christ in verse 10)

There is an event that took place regarding a rich man and a beggar who both died and the Bible records it in Luke 16:19-31. You may wish to read it for yourself.

Here is a saying that I have quoted myself: “Well, I jumped from the frying pan into the fire!”

You will find this sad event in the book of Revelation:

” And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.” Rev. 20:14

It is my prayer and desire that you will not end up in this place of torment, but come to Jesus Christ by faith, acknowledge that you are a sinner, repent of your sins (meaning you are willing to turn from that old life) and accept His free gift of salvation and follow Him – it’s the best life there is!

If you don’t want that, God will not force you, he will let you go on your way and when you meet Him one day, and you will, he will say this: “And then will I (Jesus) profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. (Matth 7:23)

What has always amazed me since I became a Christian and witnessed to people, is when they say something like this: “you’re judging me” and then they actually can somewhat  quote a verse from the Bible that says “judge not lest ye be  judged,” but are not able to quote the next verse. Actually the verse says “Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.” Matth 7:1-2) So I talk to people and try to show them the way of salvation and to keep them from going to an eternal place of torment. But if they don’t want to accept what the Bible says, then I leave them alone, and just pray for them. Unlike many religions who have killed and persecuted Christians,,  because they/we  simply believe that Jesus is the only way to heaven; we will not force or hurt or threaten to hurt anyone who does not believe the way we do! Do we then judge them? No! We love them, and want to tell them about the love of God, it will be God that will judge them one day.

I saw a very sad bumper sticker on a truck one time – it said :” Party til you puke, hell ain’t half full yet” Unless that person got saved, he will find out one day that true statement. The Bible says that hell has enlarged herself. “Therefore hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it.” (Isa 5:14)

Here is one more –  an interesting one:

You have to clear your throat, something seems to be clogging it – and you say: “I must have a frog in my throat”

If you think about this long enough, do you not wonder where a saying like that comes from? I mean, a frog in your throat?

Yes, it is from the Bible and is found in the book of Revelation: “And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.” (Rev. 16:13)

Unclean spirits? Yes, the world is filled with them! Where else would all this violence come from? I couldn’t even name all the sources here, lest I leave one out! Just take one look at our younger generation! Who do you think gives them the ideas of piercing themselves or marking their bodies and to commit suicide???? We live in a sad time filled with evil and unclean spirits. When Jesus walked this earth he cast out devils left and right! Have they gone away since then?? I think not! Praise the Lord that He is returning to this earth one day and I hope sooner than later! We don’t know the day or the hour, but the Bible does tell us about some of the signs of the times and they do point to His soon coming back. Are you prepared to meet Him? The Bible says to prepare to meet thy God!

It is my desire that if you don’t know the Lord that you will get to know Him before it is eternally too late. I also want you to know that I am not judging anyone here nor being sarcastic  or pointing my finger at anyone.  This subject is much too serious for all of that. I actually got angry at the man who told me about Jesus in the beginning. I remembered “all the hypocrites” in our church and they sure did turn me off regarding “religion.” But once I read enough gospel tracts, I realized that this is not about religion, it is about a very personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. I then asked the Lord to forgive me of my many sins, and to come into my heart and to save my soul – and He did – praise the Lord! That was in January 1983, and my life has not been the same since then.

On a personal  note and this is a testimony to the glory of God: the year before in 1982 my home in NH caught on fire. I was in the house by myself, it was a large old Victorian house, my bedroom was on the top floor. When I realized the house was on fire, I just simply wanted to get out. My way through the house was blocked by black smoke and I could hear the fire roaring in the wall. It was a picture of hell! Yet, in my room there was no damage whatsoever! My son’s room right next door to mine was not even there anymore.

Oddly enough, I did not panic, I yelled for help, and two men driving by saw me, and got me out through my bedroom window. I took nothing with me, I just wanted out! When I stood in the driveway, I remember saying “Thank God that I’m alive” as I should have died of smoke inhalation in that fire. To cut this short, I had the house rebuild, as it was a well  constructed old home, and still stood, but was badly damaged. The contractor who rebuild the home told me after he looked at the damage that he thought my room looked like it was preserved!:) One year later, in that same room is where the Lord saved me! Praise the Lord! That was the 3rd time that God spared my life! My son was in the navy at the time. When he came home, he found a new mom:) and one year later my Jim got saved. The contractor and his wife  also got saved!

I hope that this has been a blessing to you, for this is my desire.

Amazing Grace!

I realize that this is a website about working from home, and I am:) But I’m also a Christian and when I came across this song here
“Amazing Grace” I had to share this, and I hope that it will be a blessing to someone:)

When you stop and think about it, it really is amazing grace that we are alive and breathing, have a place to live, have food and clothes on our backs. Just think of the many countries where people do not have these blessings. Let’s keep on praying for our country!

It is impossible to rightly govern a nation without God and the Bible.

Overcoming obstacles

by Sanne Roemen under CC BY-SA  with

If you are reading this post, I’m sure that you have run into an obstacle that was or is difficult to overcome. I can’t even count the ones anymore that I have faced in my lifetime that I either had to overcome or give up on.  For the most part I’ve learned with the help of the Lord to overcome them. I’m not saying that it’s easy to do, but it is possible.

So here you may ask “how to overcome obstacles?”

I’m thinking of a verse that may help: “ Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” Phil. 3:13-14

One thing is for sure, we will face obstacles – that’s just life! It is how we handle them that really counts in the long-run. Whether there is a problem with your spouse, or your children, or a church member, or perhaps an illness or death, or maybe it has to do with your business or job; whatever your obstacle is, there is help for a child of God!

I had been working in a ministry in Germany for many years and I ran into several obstacles, but the one I’m thinking of almost made me want to quit. Thank the Lord that I had a very good friend whom I could confide in, knowing that it would stay between us and the Lord. I traveled to Austria where my friend lived and spent a few days there with her. We had great fellowship, we prayed together, we sang songs together and played our instruments and then Johanna suggested to me that we would take a hike up one of the mountains. This was in Austria, in the alps, and I was in my 40’s at the time. The next day we started out, and at first the going was pretty good, but soon we started to go up. Johanna was always in front of me guiding me and cheering me on. She took me on a path that wound up the side of the mountain where I could only see the next bend, but not the whole way. Had I seen the whole way up the mountain, I would have told her that there is no way I can do this!  About half way up the mountain, I wanted to quit, since I was breathing very  hard and my legs felt like jello! Johanna pointed out to me how far we had already come and when I looked back down into the valley it began to dawn on me that this was more than just a trip up the mountain! The Lord was using my dear friend to teach me some valuable life lessons here.  Everything was green and lush in the valley and grew. It made me think of the song “The Lilly of the Valley.” We took a brief rest, and then kept going.  (Hebrews ch. 4:1-5 talks about entering into his rest)  She then pointed out that the higher we went the less people we saw. After a while we came to a spot that was extremely narrow, and the drop down was very steep! Johanna told me not to look down, not to step on any small rocks, but to put my feet on solid ground and to lean into the mountain! 🙂 I not only leaned into the mountain, I held on to it and walked very slowly, and before I knew it I made it across that narrow pass. Are you familiar with the song “Leaning on the everlasting arms”?

Soon after that we came to the last stretch of the climb. When I looked up, I saw a path that went straight up to the top. I told my friend that there was no way I could make it, but she just laughed and cheered me on and told me to put my face down, not to look up, and to  put one foot in front of the other and go! The amazing thing was that I did exactly that and it seemed that I got a second wind although I think the Lord was merciful and asked my guardian angel to give me a little push 🙂 Johanna was already on the top when I finally made it. It was a breathtaking sight up there, and I would have jumped for joy, but my legs wouldn’t let me jump 🙂 so we rejoiced together in God’s beautiful creation.  As I looked around I noticed that what grew up there were only some rare flowers and  few trees that were all bent over from the storms they withstood. It was a wonderful lesson for me and I thank God that I had/have such a wise friend.

We didn’t stay very long on the top, but I surely will never forget that trip up the mountain with my dear friend who was more than “just” a friend, but my mentor who taught me some valuable life lessons!  Needless to say I stayed in the ministry until the Lord opened the door for me to return to the States years later. Johanna was a blessing to me and helped me in her wise way to overcome my obstacle!

Are you familiar with this song?”  I have decided to follow Jesus, no turning back, no turning back”

I hope that this story has been a blessing and help to you to be able to overcome an obstacle,  for this is my purpose in telling it. Friends are a wonderful blessing from the Lord and we need to treasure and appreciate them.

I am facing several obstacles right now, a personal one as well as more than one with my business online. However, when I think of my mountain trip it helps and encourages me to just keep going, not to quit, but to persevere!

Things that will help to make your day go better!

by clang boom steam under CC BY  with

Here are some things that will help you

to  make your day go better 🙂

Sometimes people will say to you:

“Have a nice day” and in some cases they even say

“Have a blessed day” – I like that one.

So this list is meant to help you to have a blessed day!

  1. Pray
  2. Go to be on time.
  3. Get up on time so you can start the day unrushed.
  4. Say “No” to projects that won’t fit into your time schedule, or that will compromise your mental health.
  5. Delegate tasks to capable others.
  6. Simplify and unclutter your life.
  7. Less is more.  (Although one is often not enough, two are often too many.)
  8. Allow extra time to do things and to get to places.
  9. Pace yourself. Spread out big changes and difficult projects over time: don’t lump the hard things all together.
  10. Take one day at a time.
  11. Separate worries from concerns. If a situation is a concern, find out what God would have you do and let go of the anxiety. If you can’t do anything about a situation, forget it.
  12. Live within your budget; don’t use credit cards for ordinary purchases.
  13. Have backups; an extra car key in your wallet, an extra house key buried in the garden, extra stamps, etc.
  14. K.M.S. (Keep Mouth Shut!) This single piece of advice can prevent an enormous amount of trouble.
  15. Do something for the Kid in You every day.
  16. Carry a Bible with you to read while waiting in line or at the doctor’s office.
  17. Get enough rest.
  18. Eat right.
  19. Get organized so everything has its place.
  20. Listen to a tape or CD while driving that can help improve your quality of life.
  21.  Keep a journal. Write down thoughts and inspirations.
  22. Set aside a time to be alone – every day!
  23. Having problems? Talk to God on the spot. Try to nip small problems in the bud. Don’t wait until it’s time to go to bed to try to pray.
  24. Make friends with Godly people.
  25. Keep a folder of favorite scriptures on hand.
  26. Remember that the shortest bridge between despair and hope is often a good “Thank you Lord”
  27. Laugh.
  28. Laugh some more!
  29. Take your work seriously, but not yourself.
  30. Develop a forgiving attitude (most people are doing the best they can.)

My son has this list in his Bible and gave it to me:) He found it in a church bulletin, but can’t remember where. We both like it enough to share:)

(author is unknown to us)

The Giving Season?

It is this time of year again where we give gifts one to another, and that’s a good thing as long as we don’t lose the meaning of what Christmas is supposed to be about.

I saw this plaque at a friend’s house: ” You can give without loving, but you can’t love without giving”

As I read this saying, the words from John 3:16 came to mind:

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son,

that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

He gave us everything! He gave His Son, He gave His life, He gives to us eternal life, He gives us a place in heaven,  He gives us Blessings too many to name, He gives us our Daily Bread, He gives us His Word, He gives us a church family, He gives us our family, he gives us wisdom to make good decisions, He gives us grace for the day………

In my concordance I found over 4 pages of “give” gives” and “giving” and most of them have to do with God giving to us!

When the wise men came to visit Jesus, they gave gifts to Jesus, not to each other. So, what can we give to the Lord?

The very least we can give Him is our Thanks!

“O give thanks unto the Lord, for He is good.” Psalm 118:1

We can give praise to His name!

PRAISE ye the LORD. Praise, O praise ye servants of the LORD, praise the name of the LORD. Psalm 113:1

We can give honor and glory to His name!

Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the Lord. Psalm 105:3

We can sing Praise to Him!

Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him: talk ye of all his wondrous works. Psalm 105:2

We can give Him our bodies! We can give Him our service!

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. Romans 12:1

We can give Him our heart!

My son, give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways. Proverbs 23:26

What will we give Him this Christmas?

How about when we meet Him one day?

One thing is for sure – we will give an account of our lives.

These are some thoughts I had about this giving time that I wanted to share with you:)

May it be a Blessing to you!

In everything give thanks!

We often thank God for a blessing He bestows on us and we are thankful, but to be thankful in everything, now that’s hard to do at times.

This website is not only about working from home, although it is a big part of it, but today I have something on my heart I would love to share with you. If you are a pet lover you will appreciate this post even that much more.

Today, one week ago I had to let my little buddy Cosmo go for good 🙁 He not only was faithful and loyal, but he had such a sweet personality that even people who don’t care too much for dogs had no choice but to love him! Cosmo had gone blind about three years ago and yet he kept on singing and talking and just being his sweet self. When my husband was really ill, Cosmo stayed beside him all the time and returned the love that my husband had shown him all along.  Cosmo was slowing down quite a bit here lately and getting sicker. When we ran out of options and I realized that I had to let him go, it was one of the hardest decisions I’ve had to make. I loved that little dog so much, but if we had gotten him “fixed up” it would have been for our benefit and not for Cosmo’s. He died in my arms Saturday night, and I have wept ever since that night.

This morning as I was praying, the Lord brought this to my mind and it was such a comfort and help to me that to keep this to myself doesn’t seem right. May this be a blessing to you.

Again, I was crying, because last week at this time Cosmo was still alive, and I could “see” him everywhere. The Lord reminded me of the time we got this little guy back in 2001. My husband discovered this precious little gem of a dog, then about 6 to 8 months old, in someone’s backyard on this huge chain, fit for a bulldog, not a little dog like Cosmo. It was a very hot day in Corpus Christi, there was no water in sight, and Cosmo was straining against the chain when he saw my husband. Apparently no one paid attention to him. My husband fell in love with him, and told him that he would be back to get him. He then found the owner and made him an offer to buy this little guy and paid for him. Cosmo had a new owner! 🙂  When Cosmo saw him coming back, he was wagging his little tail and jumping around. My husband took him off the chain, picked him up and loved on him:) He then noticed that this little guy was infested with fleas. He would not have made it another 30 days. My husband  brought him home, so we could give him a bath to get rid of his fleas. After we washed him and combed him out, he was beautiful!! 🙂 and he was a happy little camper!:) How could I not fall in love with him too.

As I was thinking on these things, the Lord brought to my mind that I was bound with a “big chain” years ago that was dragging me further and further down.  One day the Lord came along and saw me struggling against that chain wanting to get free, but I couldn’t do it myself. So, in love he reached down, took off my chain, picked me up and loved me!!!! He paid a big price for me and even though I was infested with sin, He washed me in His own blood, and I was clean and I was beautiful! He even said later that my feet, which I always thought were sort of ugly were beautiful. Can you imagine this? And for the first time in my life I was truly happy, knowing that I was loved – truly loved! I’m much older now, and my day will come when I fall asleep in His arms – Praise the Lord! So today I can say with all my heart that I am thankful in this situation, knowing that He cared for my little Cosmo, let me have him for over 10 years, and that He surely cares for me and has comforted me with these thoughts today.

May this be a blessing to you as it has been for me. If I can ever figure out how to transfer a video to this site or to my Facebook page  I would love for you to listen to him sing his last song:) I will never forget my little buddy Cosmo, he took a part of my heart with him. He also taught me much about pleasing his master and being  faithful  as he was faithful until the day he died!

Cosmo, two weeks ago getting ready to sing his last song.

Meeting up with “old” friends:)

I have had a good time the last couple of days discovering “old” friends:) and it has been a real Blessing! It brought back so many memories from my time in Germany where the Lord allowed me to return to about five years after he saved me. My whole time from the beginning in 1988 to my return to the States in 1997 was an amazing journey. The Lord supplied every need I had from my ticket to my living arrangements, to having transportation to giving me means to support myself while there.  The blessings I received while there are numberless! The people I met and new friends I made are too many to mention:)  I could really write a book about my time there:) It was not always easy, but it was good!I still have the card that Linda wrote when I arrived: “Welcome Mrs. Schell” 🙂 this is a little personal note for my dear friend Suzanne who took me in to her home after I first arrived in Germany – you are always in my heart and I love you:) We are still in touch after 22 years:)

So I connected with some friends on Facebook which I actually had never once visited:) because our pastor really dislikes that site, and I totally understand his reasons after I saw some of the pictures and comments some “Christians” put out there:( shame on you! But the reason I finally decided to join Facebook was actually to promote my website to get my online business off the ground better. Besides, what I am promoting does not cost you anything, there are no products to sell or inventory to stock, and no people to call. It’s all you and your computer:) As I’m learning more and more about this amazing opportunity I will pass on information that I have gathered and learned from.
