Mosaic Stained Glass

If you like stained glass, you will probably like Mosaic Stained Glass

Besides the traditional stained glass windows and lampshades, I really have enjoyed creating Mosaic Stained Glass panels. I normally only make one-of-a-kind panels since it’s more creative.

I purchased several wooden cabinet panels at a salvage company, then I laid out my pattern using a yellow carbon paper. Next, I cut the glass, using only the finest opalescent glass, then I ground the pieces and glued them with a special glue onto the wooden panel. When everything looked the way I wanted it, I then grouted the panel, much like you would grout a tile floor or wall. When the grout was dry, I then buffed the panel, removing excess grout.

It’s amazing the kind of Mosaic Stained Glass panels you can create. If you have the time and energy, you could also make a table top, a bird bath or just about anything really where you could place small pieces of glass. When I was in Germany, I visited a castle and one of the rooms was one giant stained glass mosaic. It was impressive! I can’t remember how many people worked on that project and how long it took them, but I can only imagine:)

The pattern in this panel comes from a quilt. The colors are dark green, rose and a  light rose shaded iridescent opalescent glass. The panel is placed on a wooden cabinet which has an oak stain.

The panel is actually for sale – it is a one-of-a-kind piece. If you are interested, feel free to email me.

The pattern in this panel is the same as the one above. The colors are totally different. Also the wood cabinet panel  is a dark wood . Although it’s kind of hard to see here, there are three shades of opalescent blue, including a pale iridescent opalescent glass.

This panel is also a one-of-a-kind panel and is also for sale.

Both pieces are of the highest quality. I have always guaranteed my workmanship.

This panel of an Iris is one of  a pair. I sold the pair to a very happy customer:) It was a one-of-a-kind pair. The picture does not do this panel justice, they were beautiful:)
